In the Community

Century 21 Zaytoun-Raines has been a drop off location for Toys for Tots for many years. Our agents are very generous in spreading the word & donating bicycles, toys, games, dolls, building blocks and time to “Toys for Tots”. We’ve provided pajamas for residents at a local nursing home and Merci Clinic is another recipient of our philanthropy. RCS (Religious Community Services) has been a big beneficiary of our monetary collections and food drives. We are a proud sponsor of The New Bern Chamber of Commerce Military Alliance “Military Family of the Quarter” program which recognizes and presents the selected family with a $250 gift card to show our appreciation. We also volunteer to cook and serve at their biannual Chicken Pickin at MCAS Cherry Point.

Bike Box Project- Pedaling for Parkinsons- We sponsored Bernin to the Beach Ride that occurs in October. They also received a special grant from Weyerhaeuser for the 3rd place number of likes on our Facebook page.

MDA Fire Truck Pull -Pulling for Harrison – We were one of the sponsors for the Fire Truck pull that was put on by City of New Bern Fire Department. We hope they will have that event again!

Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina- We have a food drive each year at our office and deliver the food and funds collected to the location in New Bern.

Religious Community Services(RCS)- We have a diaper drive at our office each year and we distribute the diapers and funds that we raised.

Craven Arts Council/RCS- We are one of the major sponsors for the Empty Bowls Event held each year. We also had a volunteer help with the throwing of the bowls!

United Way- Weyerhaeuser Company collects donations each year from the employees and several employees volunteer to help out with events that they hold.

Coastal Women’s Shelter- We collect enough diapers in our diaper drive that we can also share them with the Women’s Shelter. We also collect sample size toiletries throughout the year and deliver them to the Women’s Shelter (70 lbs last year)

Promise Place- We share the toiletries collected with the Promise Place.

George was born into the construction business and raised on his father’s job sites. He literally started at the ground level, cleaning building sites as a boy, and worked his way up through the ranks to foreman for George Sr. and then president of the company. Starting at the bottom and working his way up has taught George a vast understanding of the building process from all angles as well as the value of time, money, quality, and customer satisfaction. Buick GMC decided to be a returning sponsor this year. They are one of our First Mate sponsors and are one of the keys to the success of the race. We would like you to get to more about Trent GMC Buick. Here is their story in their own words.

In 1957, Don Deichmann opened Trent Oldsmobile Cadillac on South Front Street in New Bern, NC. He built and relocated to a new facility at 1707 Highway 70 East in 1962 and added the Buick franchise that same year. The new shop had ten service bays, three sales offices, and an outdoor new car showroom. Mike Deichmann joined Don in 1963 and worked his way through the service and sales departments until Don’s death in 1970. At that time, he purchased the company stock and was approved by General Motors as the youngest Cadillac dealer in the United States. Mike’s brother Pete joined him in 1971 and they have worked together for 47 years.

 

The dealership has grown over the years more than tripling the size of the service department, had three major renovations, and now occupies over six acres on Highway 70.  GMC was added in 1993, so when you “Think trucks, think Trent.” We offer the absolute best in sales and service at the lowest price and are famous for our lowest tire price guarantee and are one of the largest GM tire centers in the southeastern United States. Trent now has 65 employees with 2 having been there over 40 years and 8 with over 30 years employment. We have 17 technicians and 7 of them are World Class technicians representing the highest level of GM training available. There are only 15 World Class technicians in the state. We are the only dealership in the southeastern United States that can make this claim. 

 

Don Deichmann’s commitment to his community and to his employees continues to live on and is the basis for our continued success.
